Abstract
Previous studies have suggested that athletes' psychological capital level is related to stress and sports burnout. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the effects of psychological capital of football players on stress and burnout and to provide practical suggestions to athletes and coaches to reduce stress and burnout. The data of the study were obtained using the “personal information form”, “Psychological Capital Perception Scale”, “Perceived Stress Scale,” and “Sports Burnout Scale”. A total of 384 male football players studying at sports science faculties in Türkiye participated in this study. Correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were performed in the data analysis. According to the study findings, as the psychological capital levels of the participants increased, their perceived stress and sports burnout levels decreased. As the perceived stress levels of the participants increased, their sports burnout levels also increased.
