In this study, it has been aimed to analyze the changes in the general strength of young elite female judo athletes as a result of quick loss of weight prior to competititons. A total of 15 judo athletes including 8 competitive athletes born in 1985 and 7 competitive athletes born in 1986 took part in the research. The first measurements were done 1 week before the competitions and the second one took place 1 day before the competition. The measurements of weight, right and left handgrip strength, back strength, leg strength, vertical jump were done before and after the loss of weight. A dynamometer was used to measure handgrip, back and leg strength ; a sensitive scale was used to measure weight, a standart scale was used to measure vertical jump. As a result of the first and second measurements, a significant difference was observed in the body weight of athletes born in 1985 and 1986 . The average of the first measurements of 1985 born athletes was 61,4400 kg, the average of the second measure was 58,5275 kg. Also the average of the first measures of 1986 born athletes was 55,6743 kg. and the average of the second measure was 53,3214 kg. A significant difference was observed between the first and second measurements of back strength, vertical jump and right hand grip strength in 1985 and 1986 born athletes. A significant difference was observed in the measurments of left hand grip strength of athletes born in 1985 whereas no difference was seen in the left hand grip strength results of athletes born in 1986. There was no difference between the first and second leg strength measurements of athletes born in 1985. On the contrary, a significant difference was observed in the measurements of athletes born in 1986. Taking these differences into consideration, it is thought that the general strength of athletes is badly affected when there is a quick loss of weight.
