Investigation Of Anger And Aggresive Behavior Of Turkish Football Süper League Derby Match Fans

The aim of this study was to evaluation of the audiences’ anger and aggressive behavior before, during and after the football derby matches in Turkish Super League.97 subject, 37 women, 60 men (Age mean 26 years ± 6,5, minimum 18 years, maximum 60 years) were participated as a volunteer. The Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) was used for data collection and it was applied to audiences who were watched the derby matches regularly. First part of the questionaire was consisted of demographic characteristics such as gender, education, occupation, socio-economic level. Anger and anger control questions were also in first part. Second part questions were about disturbances from the environment during the match. In third part questions were about using alchohol. Attitude after the match result and attitude before and after the match were evaluated in the forth and the fıfth part of the questionaire. In last part was consist of general evaluation questions. As the results of the study, 38,1% of the participants were always getting angry when the referee was having a wrong decision and 18,6 % of them were always swearing. Although the decisions of the referee were wrong, very low numbers of participants were damaged to football field and had self-harm. Additionally, participants were reported to drink alcohol sometimes before, during and after the football match and they answered that felt no enmity to the opposing team, the players and the referee when the score was against. Lastly, according to the results, discussions in media after the match and monitoring with two different fans together to these discussions may increase aggression.
