The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a significant connection between the personalities and life styles of the students at the Istanbul University - Department of Physical Education and Sports High School Sports Management and Coaching (PES), Hasan Ali Yücel Faculty of Education (HAYEF) and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing (FNHF) .

To collect data, we have used two scales in our research. The first one is five-factor personality traits scale. This scale was adapted into Turkish in 2002 by Somer.Somer (1998) has identified this study, carried out on a sample of adults, as representative of 235 adjectives of personality traits in Turkish language. It has been found that the adjectives selected by using thefirst order analysis are represented in five basic factor size. The second scale, Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scales is developed by Walker et al. This scale was re-adapted to Turkish, revised and renamed as Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale-II by Esin and Akca. The scale consists of 52 substances and six factors. These are health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, spiritual growth, interpersonal relations, and stress management.

The data collected for the purpose of this study is analyzed using the package program called “SPSS 15.0 Statistical Package For The Social Sciences”.During the data analysis, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test were used.Significance of “0.05” level has been recognized for the collected data.

Based on the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors scale, we have observed that physical activity is the lowest rating among all the groups. There has not been founded a personality trait that affects students’ physical activity states. The highest score has been found to belong to students’ spiritual developments and interpersonal communications.

As a result of this research, we have founded that students’personality traits have been affective on the development of healthy lifestyle behaviors.
