Evoluation Of 14 Years Old Children’s Physical Fitness Levels And Anthropometric Characteristics

In this research, it has been aimed to evaluate physical fitness levels and anthropometric characteristics of male adolescents of 14 years old, either making sport or not. At this research, a total of 66 voluntary children, being 32 athletes and 34 sedentary have been participated. Heights, weights, body mass indexes, vertical jumping, anaerobic strengths, flexibilities, handgrip strengths, leg and back strengths, maximum oxygen consumption (VO2max), 30 meters sprints, body fat percents, body fat masses, lean body weights, length measurements (seating height, crawl), diameter measurements (humeral, femur, acromial, bitrochanter), girth measurements (shoulder, waist girth, chest, femur, calf, biceps extension and biceps flexion), endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorph parameters of the children participating at the research have been measured. For the statistical analysis, a package software named SPSS and the independent ‘t’ test have been made use of. There found to be no significant difference between the height, leg strength, back strength, lean body mass, sitting height, crawl length, acromial diameter, shoulder girth, waist girth, chest girth, femur girth, biceps extension and biceps flexion girth parameters of athletes and sedentary volunteers at the p>0,05 level. Significant difference has been indicated in terms of weight, flexibility, VO2max, femur girth, bitrochanter girth diameter and mesomorph parameters at the p<0,05 level, whereas significant difference has been determined in terms of body mass index, vertical jumping, handgrip strength, 30 meters sprint, humeral diameter, endomorph and ectomorph, body fat percent and body fat mass parameters at the p<0,01 level. As a result; we can conclude that regular sport training helps the 14 years old male adolescent children to develop their anthropometric characteristics and physical fitness levels significantly.
