This research, which investigated the mediation role of recreational awareness in the relationship between university students’ Facebook connection strategies and their academic procrastination behaviors, was carried out on a total of 722 university students composed of 373 females and 349 males. Personal Information Form, Facebook Connection Strategies Scale (FCSS), Academic Procrastination Scale (APS), and Recreational Awareness Scale (RAS) were used to collect research data. Pearson Product Moments Correlation analysis, structural equation model analysis and Bootstrap coefficient and confidence intervals were calculated in determining the significance in testing the hypotheses regarding the mediation role in the research. Kruskal Wallis-test and Mann-Whitney-U test with Bonferroni correction were used to test the hypotheses regarding the differences. SPSS 22.0, AMOS 24.0 and SPSS Macro Process programs were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it was found that there was a negative relationship between the Facebook connection strategies of university students and their academic procrastination behaviors, and recreational awareness partially mediated this relationship. It was determined as a result of the research that the Facebook connection strategies of the students who participated in cultural and social recreational activities were higher than the students who participated in recreational activities for sportive purposes. It was also determined that students participating in recreational activities for sportive purposes had more academic procrastination behaviors and more recreational awareness than other groups.
