In addition, the direct effects of harmonious passion, obsessive passion and athletic identity on school burnout were not significant (p > .05). The analyses revealed that the direct effects of harmonious passion (β=−0.15, p < .05), obsessive passion (β=0.18, p < .05) and athletic identity (β=−0.20, p < .05) on sport burnout were significant. With the mediation test obtained, it was determined that the indirect effects of harmonious passion (β=−0.11, 95% BCA) and obsessive passion (β=−0.09, 95% BCA) on sport burnout through athletic identity were significant, while their effects on school burnout were not significant. The study revealed that the athletic identities of adolescent athletes are influenced by their passion types and affect their school and sport burnout.
