Future Time Perception: A study on School of Physical Education and Sports Students

The aim of this study was to examine future time perception of physical education and sports students according to socio-demographic variables such as gender, age, school division and regular sport participation. 458 students voluntarily involved in the study. In the study in addition to personal information form Future Time Perspective Scale, which was developed by Husman and Shell (1996) and adaptation study for Turkish population made by Avci and Erden (2009), was used as data gathering tool. In the evaluation part of the data descriptive statistic methods frequency and percentage were used for the distribution of personal information of the participants’, One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov was used as a normality test and Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis non-parametric statistical tests were used for identifying significant differences.
As a result future time perceptions of the participants show significant differences according to gender, regular sport participation and school division, on the other hand there is no significant difference according to age.
