This study examines the concept “supporting a sports team”, an inherent component of sports, through the comics in the books of caricaturist Latif Demirci. The study uses content analysis techniques, which is one of the qualitative analysis method often used while analysing certain materials such as documents, logs and archives. The analysis was limited to animated characters Muhlis Bey, Mithat and Mirsat, who place sports in the center of their lives. These study specific characters have been used for a long time in comics and represented typical sports fan profiles by reflecting stereotype supporter identities. The analyses revealed that supporter behavior followed a patrimonial pattern (passing from father to son / in this study from master to apprentice) and was characterized with tendency to radical fanatism and violence as the age increases. When the period in which the comics were published is concerned, it can be observed that the increasing violence in sports all over the world has greatly affected Tukish world of sports, especially football. The findings of the study are expected to contribute to the field since it shows that the relationship between supporter behavior and violence can easily be dealt with through caricature art.
